Claughton’s View of Kudawella Beach

As you access the winding driveway of Claughton Beach Villa, you will arrive at a single-story entrance. Your eyes will take in the badger family crest emblemized above and secured with an iron gate. Let your feet carry you across the threshold into the long hallway. You’ll glimpse of the alluring Indian ocean leads you to the multi-tiered open living space and a truly mind-blowing view. Your gaze gently descends from the house through the well kept lawn, festooned with elegant coconut trees. Looking past the inviting pool terrace, you’ll see the wonderful white sand of Kudawella Beach. Completing a few visual circuits of this grand panorama, you truly appreciate the thoughtful design.

Backtrack to the entrance hall, where a door leads you to a tropical courtyard featuring a shower, table and chairs. As you walk to the distant end of the courtyard, a door takes you into a twin bedroom. Complete with air conditioning the twin beds and sofa bed are serviced by their own ensuite bathroom.  Glass which expands from your feet to high above your head maximises your visual pleasure of the gardens.

The Living Space of Claughton Beach Villa

Entering from the upper tier of the living space, you’ll find the second bedroom. Furnished with three single beds you’ll enjoy relaxed sleep with the comfort of air conditioning. When you are a guest in this room you have your own ensuite bathroom. The bedroom’s private courtyard provides you with an outdoor shower which compliments the polished concrete tub in the bathroom. Floor to ceiling windows frame the stunning gardens.

On the other side of the upper terrace, the master bedroom entices you with a king-size bed decked in crisp linen. Further, the master suite offers you built-in wardrobes for added comfort of longer rental guests. The built-in wardrobes contrast a teak desk and a sofa that can be made into a single child’s bed. The suite’s bathroom pays homage to Sri Lanka’s masons with polished concrete bathtub. The private courtyard garden encloses an outdoor shower. A small balcony provides you elevated views across the gardens and out to sea.

Additional sleeping quarters are provided for you in bedrooms four and five. Use the covered walkway to walk from the kitchen towards the back of the house for easy entry. Both suites have their own bathroom. Allow yourself to be drawn into bedroom four’s comfortable king size bed and private terrace. Bedroom five beguiles you with satellite TV and games you can enjoy from the twin beds. A table tennis table in the shady adjoining hall affords you an active, out of the sun, pastime.

When you access the upper terrace, a polished concrete dining table which seats twelve awaits you. Living space in the middle tier is all about your relaxation in two sofas and a huge bean bag chair. Even if you never leave the lower level, ample relaxation space in stylish chairs and a coffee table awaits.

Relax Into The Tropical Landscape

Furthermore, if you are a yogi a pavilion perched on the hilltop offers inspiring garden and ocean views. Overlooking the bay at the bottom of the garden, is the swimming pool. the pool terrace seems like it floats amongst the rocks. Apart from the setting, the pool offers you a shallow platform for relaxing, and a deep end which is perfect for a mid-afternoon plunge. When you’ve cooled off, find a shady space under the large garden trees or in the pavilion. When you descend the steps from the pool to the private beach gate and onto Kudawella Beach.

Allow yourself to enjoy morning beach runs or sunset strolls. During the day, cast yourself into excellent surf breaks, for both the beginner, or those more experienced.

As a result, the sea breeze gently glides over you, up the hill and through the villa’s open face. You don’t need to be a surfer to enjoy the airflow which refreshes every corner and keeps the space cool.
